i watched it at IFC 2 weeks ago.
a few things

1.hip hop has a HUGE influence
2.white releif workers are sex tourists
3.haiti is fucked and it makes me sad. i mean i should have known it was fucked when some folks shot my uncle and kidnapped his daughter, but now i REALLY know

saw it at the philly film fest earlier this year..i agree with the 2nd comment..it shows how a lot of the "relief workers" tend to have a major influence on the areas they are supposed to be giving relief...its amazing the influence that this particular lady has on the brothers...kinda ill..t

Yo i saw this a few months back...makes you rethink the phrase "what's really hood". L'Overture would spin in his grave if he saw this though...

miss blaack,

what killed me most is how she was able to maneuver around so well.
its sad. if it were me, i'd have stuck out more than her (and i'm haitian! just US-born) and i'd probably have it a lot more roadblocks in making inroads w/ folks to help out. at first i was amazed but in the end i was like 'ugh'.

i really have mixed reviews on the whole movie. mainly because they totally glossed over how aristide bankrolled these cats. amy goodman and the damn black congressional congress were going apeshit over aristide getting the boot and they turned a blind eye to how corrupt he had become. my whole family was pro-lavalas up until 2002/3 or so. he was just too corrupt.
